Letters on the brain

I've decided I'm going to do a simple collage of "G"'s on Gideon's wall. Thus far, I covered one in mustard yellow yarn similar to these:

And bought a small gold one. I'm debating between mixing and matching a bunch of random "G"'s or having different sized/shaped letters and making them somewhat mono chromatic in shades of gold.

Here are some of my findings:

My first vote is for you to go with what most excites you. My second vote is monochromatic yarn-covered. B/c, knowing you, you're going to find some other colorful patterned textile that you want to play with, and the sculptural weight coupled with a variety of patterns and colors might make the addition of future colors/patterns too much.

I can't wait to see your projects and your BOY so so soon!!

Couldn't agree more with your friend! These are something you're not going to necessarily want to re-do, so keeping them neutral will give you the freedom to change other elements of decor in the future. :)

Love this. My sister bought plain letters from michaels - the ones that look like they are made out of paper grocery sacks - and decoupaged them. It was sooooo easy and they are fabulous.

If you can find them, it would be pretty cute to have a mixture of upper and lower case.

I can't wait to see what you come up with.

I love the idea of mixing, but as pelz suggested if you are using a lot of other colors and patterns in the room it might be too much...but it would be much for fun for Gideon as he grows to have a mix of styles I think!!! I can imagine this being something he will enjoy on his walls for yeeeaaars, it is a great idea!
