The perfect distraction

Well, I still haven't finished this sweater:

Because I've been busy working on this sweater:

Which I decided to do on a whim.
After falling in love with an overpriced cardigan at Anthropologie.
I bought this sweater at Salvation Army for $3. I just added a pleated ruffle at the bottom, new buttons, and black satin bias tape along the bottom edge to give it a polished look (because I am so not the polished seamstress).

But I will finish the other sweater eventually (that is if I don't find a new distraction). (And I wonder why my dad calls me "The Add Lady.")

Lately Inspirations

So I've been managing a very full schedule this past month and I haven't had much time for projects. But I've still managed to grab a few bits of inspiration here and there. Mainly from Apartment Therapy house tours and such because I'm on their daily email list.

Inspiration for Chelsea's nursery. These fabric circles are inexpensive & easy to make:

I like this dramatically long picture ledge:

Someone at Apartment Therapy had the clever idea to color their own design onto fabric napkins with a permanent marker (there's a world of possibilities here):

And you know what a sucker I am for fancy hardware, look at how Design Sponge used these vintage broaches:

And I haven't forgotten about the sweater posting, final results to come (plus a bonus)....

I broke down.

And tried these ridiculous, overly-informercialized things....

HERE'S MY TAKE:

One thumb up on legs.
It takes a little more time than shaving. Convenient if you're not wanting to hop into the shower. But not amazing. Just be prepared to use lotion afterwards because it leaves an ashy white dust (similar to filing your nails).

Two Thumbs down on underarms & bikini line.
Completely ineffective. A joke actually.

One thumb sideways on the girly stache.
It removed a little of the facial fuzz, but not enough to be in the clear.

If I hadn't paid with a store credit, I'd consider asking for a refund (I know, I'm sorta cheap). And you're welcome for taking one for the team (and saving you from those marketing devils). You know you've wanted to try these. Now take your $8ish bucks & have an extra big latte on me (the lesser of two evils).

It's a sort of Wonderland over here....

And my incredibly artistic hubby snapped this today.
I think it's so poetic.

And...because of the snowy roads, I worked from our
neighborhood Starbucks (and it was so therapeutic).

A word on polish...

As I keep peering down at my freshly painted fingernails, pecking away at emails & such, I'm lovin' this faint shade of pearl pink. And I thought I'd let you blogger friends know that I'm crazy about neutral nail polish colors. Cause us blogger friends care about such things, yes? Years ago, I would paint my hands & toes seasonal shades of burgundy, bright coral, & corvette red.
(And dare I admit that I wore acrylic nails for half a decade?)
But today, I couldn't be happier with my natural nails. I love how light and feminine this color looks. So there you have it, the highlight of my Thursday afternoon (well & the fact it's been snowing all day [which NEVER happens in Dallas!] and it's making me feel really nostalgic).

Anna's Birthday

For Anna's birthday today we took her to her favorite coffee shop and instead of baking a cake, we made a box full of her favorite fruits and veggies. She loved it! And we had a sweet time with our birthday girl :).

If you have a min...

My good friend Mandy:

wrote a really insightful article (slightly heady...cause she's smart like that) about how her faith in Jesus and her passion for the environment are intertwined. She made several really solid points. It's long, but worth the full read. (So, if you're prone to ADD [like me], drink a cup o joe beforehand;). Here's the link.

New Crafty Inspiration

I subscribe to Apartment Therapy's email list (which is almost daily) and today they sent a link to their favorite Crafty Blogs. I was particularly excited about The Purl Bee and these two projects...

The rose bud clips:

And the felt flower pillow:

Cute huh?!
